  • At a presentation ceremony in Brussels last week, an independent international selection panel identified eight EC-funded research projects as the worthy winners of this year’s CommBeBiz Awards.  Each project demonstrated the highest business or social innovation potential to address major challenges across food, health, agriculture and environment sectors.
The eight winners presented their projects at the EBN Congress in Brussels on 29th October to an audience of judges, industry experts, EBN’s special interest group and the media.
    • Results of crop production and yield are equivalent using treated waste water and clear water
    • Use of alternative water source for irrigation permits to safe valuable water resources (e.g. aquifers)
    • Low values of pathogens in water and fruit proof that TREAT&USE is a safe technology for waste water reuse in agriculture
    • The prototype can be up-scaled to higher production rates, including food industry uses.
  • TREAT&USE is coming to its end, and we have left many experiences in these two and a half years: hard work, good friends and especially many lessons learnt. The main one is that you cannot figure out what the market needs until you work directly with end users. In this sense, the expertise gained thanks to the cooperation with the cooperative of farmers GUADECOL has been invaluable.
